Geomorphology and Vegetation: Interactions, Dependencies, and Feedback
Loops October 2 to 4, 2009 - Virginia Tech - Blacksburg, Virginia Hosted By: Dr. W. Cully Hession & Dr. Tess M. Wynn, Biological Systems Engineering, Virginia Tech, Dr. Joanna C. Curran, Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Virginia, and Dr. Lynn M. Resler, Geography, Virginia Tech Dates: October 2 to 4, 2009 Location: Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA NOTE: The main conference events will be in 140 Chem/Phys building (bldg 158) By focusing the 2009 Binghamton International Geomorphology Symposium on vegetation, we anticipate bringing together a diverse group of researchers who will discover avenues for future collaborations across the realm of geomorphology. Vegetation is an important component in multiple types and scales of biogeomorphic systems. We have initially divided the overall program into three thematic areas. Within each of these areas, we will include speakers with expertise in geomorphology/vegetation interactions, dependencies, and feedback loops. The thematic areas are as follows: 1. Coupled Geomorphic/Vegetation Interactions in Upland Areas 2. Floodplain Processes 3. Vegetation and Channel Morphology Click here to see a list of invited speakers and topics Important Airport Shuttle Information If you are interested in a shuttle FROM the airport on Friday, click here.
